The Beauty of Grace

GRACE, n. : the free and unmerited favor of God, as manifested in the salvation of sinners and the bestowal of blessings

One of my absolute favorite things about being in relationship with God is His intimacy. I cant imagine my life without knowing the Lord Himself. I cant imagine my life not knowing the Fathers love ever again. I’m amazed over and over again that I don't deserve much of what Im given and I’m still given all of God. I’m not here to write about Gods incredible intimacy right now but instead his grace. Because without Gods grace I wouldnt have His intimacy.

Gods gift to humanity is grace. In the simplest of terms it means undeserved, unmerited, unearned, favor.

Its a hard concept to grasp that we belong to a perfect God because its hard to even fathom what perfect looks like. Perfect is loving over and over again while holding no record of wrong. Its giving love, favor and affection when we deserve it the least. God had so much grace and mercy over humanity that he sent his son to the cross to endure all the sin and shame of humanity to take it to the grave. If you dont know the details of the story, the very people Jesus was sent to save and went to the cross for are the same people that sent him to the cross. We crucified Him and in return He loves us. That is grace.

What is so beautiful is that God doesnt look down upon humanity and see the shameful people who killed his perfect son. God sees through to the core of our hearts and loves us. Like really really loves us. It wrecks me how much he believes in me and pushes me further and further into my identity.

You see God doesnt love out of a place of performance or perfection. He loves because He is love. Its what He does. It is who He is. I am so thankful to be serving a perfect God who loves completely.

Another thing to understand about grace is that although it is not earned it is not something to take advantage of. Taking advantage of Gods grace is doing whatever you please whenever you please and then saying, well theres grace for me”, which is true but if you really want to live in the fullness of what God has to offer then I recommend humbling your heart to receive grace and be thankful for it because the purpose of Gods abundant grace is to have unimaginable intimacy with His children.

Because Christ lives in us and we do all things through Him, Jesus wants us to give away what we receive. Its an interesting concept to get used to but its all for the glory of God. When we receive abundant grace and love from the Lord he expects us to pass it to those around us. If you read my Self-Love post then you know that a huge part of loving yourself is loving thy neighbor. One of the best ways we can love our neighbors is to give them grace. We are given endless amounts of it which means we have plenty to impart. Its really hard to do and I completely understand the difficulty of giving to those who do wrong by you, but it brings so freedom and then multiplies our grace and freedom. The Lord works in ways the world will never, give and it will be multiplied back to you.

I know that was hefty but its one of the most important things I am learning and loving about my God. We have access to the Lord our God because of grace and I am thankful for it every single day of my life. I get to know the creator of the universe and my soul. Its pretty rad. recommend you get to know your maker.
