TWENTY THINGS I LEARNED BEFORE TWENTY

March 5, 2017

  1. God is good. Always
  2. Love is a choice and if you want it you have to fight for it.
  3. No one is going to believe in you more than you so you have to continuously believe.
  4. Tattoos don’t hurt as bad as I thought they would.
  5. Friends come and go and it’s ok. Some are only meant for a season but the ones that are called to life; hang on to them.
  6. Traveling is worth the money.
  7. 9/10 times someone bails on you actually has nothing to do with you.
  8. Things work out for the good of those who love God, and that is a promise (Romans 8:28).
  9. It’s okay to be vulnerable with people, good even, but people don’t need or deserve to know everything.
  10. We are created for so so much more than we could ever imagine.
  11. There will always be more healing to be had.
  12. More than three cups of coffee a day isn’t healthy. More than two cups probably isn’t very healthy either but oh well...
  13. My parents did the best that they could. Whatever that looked like they did their best.
  14. Be grateful in trials, they’re going to build your character and integrity to get you to where you want to be.
  15. Someone else’s blessing doesn’t take away from any of yours.
  16. Love where you’re at: your age, your job, your house…love and embrace where you are.
  17. It’s okay to have fun in the waiting room- dance and play while waiting for your blessing or breakthrough.
  18. More is never enough.
  19. Trust what your gut tells you or what God tell you to do even if it makes no sense to anyone else.
  20. I am loved.
If you told me a year ago on my birthday that in a year I would wake up on a plane in Paris I would tell you you're insane. Recently I've been fighting for this one thing in prayer in fasting and spirit, and amidst all that God hands me a free trip to Paris. The one place I have only ever wanted to go since I could remember. Amidst everything I've been feeling He hands me something so near and dear to my heart. Even though it's not what I've been looking for it reminds me of His goodness.

I told myself I wouldn't cry this year on my birthday and I'm still hoping I don't. I'm turning a decade and I am so ready to do so. Twenty is such a fun year to come into- still young but not necessarily a child. Then again I haven't felt like a child since I was fifteen. I thought what better to post than to reflect on the top things I feel I've learned. Anyway, happy birthday to me + enjoy my thoughts...

JM
